Derwent Inktense XL blocks are a unique, chunky format of the popular Inktense line, offering bold, water-soluble pigment in a larger, versatile block. Known for their intense, ink-like colour payoff, these blocks can be used both dry and wet, unlocking vibrant, expressive possibilities. When activated with water, the colours deepen and, once dry, become permanent.
Inktense XL blocks are perfect for large-scale art, expressive backgrounds, and mixed media applications on surfaces like paper, canvas, and fabric.
Once dry the colour is fixed and can be worked over the top of it.
Due to its permanent feature it’s great for using on fabric such as silk and cotton. (You must make sure that all the pigment has been dissolved in the water to make it permanent. Any dry pigment will be washed out if further water is applied.)
XL blocks have an approximate measurement of 60 x 20 x 20mm each.
